Opportunities Outside the Classroom

The French Studies Department holds a variety of co-curricular activities throughout the year. Public film screenings of recent Francophone films, guest speakers, and conversation hours bring French out of the classroom and into the community.

French Club

The student-led French Club, founded in 2016, organizes themed discussions, social events, and more! The club welcomes students at all levels of French, as well as those who have never studied the language, to join them.

Student Ambassadors

Several French Studies majors and minors serve as student ambassadors each year. Ambassadors help organize departmental events, reach out to students, and promote our programs.

Fulbright Teaching Assistant

We are very fortunate to host a French Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant (FLTA) each year! The FLTA provides a French/Francophone presence for students and the broader WFU community. In addition to their work as a teaching assistant for Intensive Elementary French (FRH 113) and Intermediate French (FRH 153), our FLTA engages with students outside the classroom, tutoring students of French and hosting co-curricular activities. Our students love learning about the culture from the perspective of a recent university student from France.

You can read about and connect with our FLTA on our Faculty & Staff webpage.
