Paige Tierney earned her Ph.D. in French Studies at the University of Virginia. Her research focuses on 20th- and 21st-century French literature that centers movement through urban landscapes. She is particularly interested in texts that engage with the affective and relational aspects of pedestrian movement. Her work has examined various literary walking practices related to the psychogeography of the Situationist International and contemporary littérature d’enquête. Dr. Tierney enjoys teaching a variety of language courses at Wake Forest and has previously taught a course on literature and film called “Culture on the Move in Global Francophone Cities.” She has also helped lead students on study abroad programs in Paris and is passionate about facilitating memorable learning through education abroad opportunities.
